Anant Ambani and his wife, Radhika, are among the wealthiest individuals in Asia. He talked about his trip through Switzerland.
They enjoyed a leisurely yacht trip on Lake Lucerne, then visited the Café “slurp” in Zurich‘s fourth district, and after had dinner at the “Neue Taverne” in the old town. Indian billionaire Anant Ambani and his wife, Radhika, feel at home in Switzerland.
20 Minutes was able to speak with Anant Ambani, who is staying at the five-star Mandarin Oriental Savoy Hotel near Paradeplatz. Despite being accompanied by numerous bodyguards and security guards, he made time for the journalist. “I really like Switzerland!” says Ambani.
“Spend time with my wife.”
He travels extensively and engages in a variety of activities, the billionaire says. On Monday evening, for example, he took a leisurely stroll through Zurich. “I spend a lot of time with my wife. We really enjoy it here.” Ambani laughs, appearing relaxed. Afterward, he says goodbye, strolls through the Bahnhofstrasse, and enters various luxury shops.
Among other things, Ambani makes a detour to the Bruno Cuccinelli clothing boutique, then walks across the Zügusplatz and, after visiting Hermès, returns to the hotel. Always with him: several bodyguards who accompany him every step of the way.
Extra day in Switzerland
According to an employee who wished to remain anonymous, Ambani strolled from Bürkliplatz to Stadelhofen on Monday evening. He also enjoyed the old town on Tuesday, strolling past bars and the Zeughauskeller restaurant. “He really appreciated the peace and quiet and the fact that no one wanted photos or selfies.”
It’s possible that these freedoms prompted Ambani to spend an extra day in Switzerland: “The departure was originally planned for Monday evening,” says the employee. All of his luggage, 40 suitcases and numerous shopping bags, had already been loaded, and all the drivers and cars were waiting in front of the hotel. “But then they suddenly said he wanted to stay after all.”
Private jet ready at Zurich Airport
The departure to Zurich Airport is now planned for Tuesday evening, the employee says. “That’s where Ambani has parked his private jet.” The 60-person team, including around 15 drivers, is waiting in front of the hotel. The staff also includes a doctor and an employee who looks after Ambani’s two dogs, a golden retriever and a bulldog. “He also brought two of his own air conditioning units – just in case.”
However, the staff only finds out at the last moment whether they’re actually leaving, the man says. “He is very spontaneous; we never know exactly where he’ll go next.”
