Maggi Brand

The Maggi brand originates from Switzerland, where in 1884 Julius Maggi develops a special legume flour. This highly nutritional flour, made of peas, beans, and lentils, becomes the basis for nutritious, fast-prepared and cheap soups.

In 1886, the Swiss Government asked Julius to create a product that would be quick and easy to prepare, yet highly nutritious. His research was a success, as he develops the instant dry soup on the basis of his legume flour.

As a social entrepreneur, Julius Maggi improved the poor food situation in the working class, while promoting better working conditions for his employees.
