Trauffer has produced wooden toys for three generations: each is an individual piece with small differences. In 1938, Alfred  Trauffer began to carve wooden cows and other animals in simple, concrete shapes. His wife, Rosa Trauffer-Michel, painted them. The brightest children’s eyes were the best reward for their work. Furthermore, these shining children’s eyes are what still drive the company today. The lovingly handcrafted wooden toys and souvenirs by Trauffer have been made in their home in the beautiful Bernese Oberland since 1938. Moreover, milling, sawing, killing, sanding, painting, and gluing – 24 individual steps are carried out until, for example, the iconic, red-spotted wooden cow stands proudly on the shelf in all its glory.
